Community Pantry

TESDA Regional Training Center-Mariveles through the initiative of its Center Administrator, Mr. Neil G. Santioque and in partnership with Kabalikat, OFW Council and Veterans and Local Government Unit through Mariveles Kindness Station (created a year ago in support for those disadvantaged whom affected by the Covid-19 pandemic) established a Community Pantry with an epigram “It’s Better to give than to Receive, Today I will received, next time I will Give” “God will provide”
On April 29, 2021, a total of one hundred (100) recipients came at the training center and were able to take home a bag of goods in full observance and adherence to IATF health protocols starting at the front entrance of the institution where physical distancing was practiced. There was also a temperature scanning during entry and they will be directed immediately towards a handwashing area located at the side of the venue. Beside the registration area, there was also a space for inquiries and TESDA programs advertisement. A Medical team composed of RTC organic nurse employees was also on stand by and ready for first aid especially for persons who wants to have their blood pressure checked. Some residents brought with them plants (plantitas/plantitos) in exchange for the goods they received. These will be planted at the vicinity of the training center in which can be remembered as “Bayanihan” in this time of crisis.
At the OFW office on the other hand, a short training program for Bonsai Beads Making held simultaneously with the event where accommodated approximately 40 participants consist of OFW relatives. The training package/materials was sponsored by Kindness Station lead by Ms. Rowena Franco and PNP headed by Municipal Executive Senior Police Officer PEMS Florentino Orani Jr.
In the afternoon, Hon. Mayor Jo Castañeda extended her support by giving encouragement and continuously reminding the locals to follow strict health protocols. Bringing hope in times of crisis, this program is guided with the principle of “TESDA Abot Lahat” and part of the concerted and united action of TESDA to provide necessary assistance to the people it serves. Furthermore, with the camaraderie of these groups, this program is indeed a success.
