OFW Training: Produce Organic Concoctions and Extracts

TESDA Regional Training Center Mariveles conducts community based training in Organic Agriculture Production through one of its competency entitled “Produce Organic Concoctions and Extracts”. Last April 15 and 16, 2021, the training institution in collaboration with the Mariveles OFW Council gathered twenty-two (22) participants consisting of OFWs and their beneficiaries to join the said training program. Out of the scopes of this competency, Fermented Fruit Juice was chosen by Mr. Eugenio P. Salamanca who has been the trainer of this activity. The process includes fermentation of overripe and sweet fruits such as bananas and papayas.
The two (2) days training produced five (5) buckets of mixtures for fermentation process. After a week, the participants were advised to return to check their product and to make an adjustments as part of the process. Another patience again must endure to be able to see their final output which is natural soil enhancer. This can be used as foliar fertilizer or can also be applied directly to the soil. The OFW trainees can’t wait to harvest the product of their new skills and efforts for them to be able to use it in their own land.
According to TESDA Director General Sec. Lapeña, “There is so much hope in agriculture and we must work harder to achieve national food security”, thus, continuing production of agri crops will be beneficial to our fellowmen.
